My ed session today was about Going Green to Save Green. The biggest issue facing many campuses is that there is a heavy reliance on paper flyers and posters to get the word out to students about upcoming events. They are effective, but it’s a double edged sword as it utilizes a large amount of paper.
I learned of a number of different digital options that can be used to get the word out about upcoming events, as well as some reusable posting options. I would like to take back the idea of using chalkboards to place around campus that tell about some upcoming events. They’re modern and interesting to look at because they still allow for creativity. AND AND AND they’re reusable! Other options are utilizing an automatic text app to notify students, which may take a few years to get up and running, but is a good option to consider.
I think we should definitely educate students back at Bridgewater about how to be more environmentally conscious, not only when it comes to flyers and posters and Program Council, but also with their classes. That way, we can all have a little extra s-bear change in our pockets!
